Angel Leiva studied chemistry at the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Valparaíso, Chile and obtained his doctorate 1998 at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago. He worked from 1999 to 2002 as head of Environmental Laboratory, of the General Direction of Water of the Ministry of Public Works of Chile. In 2002 he was appointed as assistant professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, where he currently serves as a full professor. His main research interests are: Polymers synthesis, functionalization and characterization, Nanostructured polymers, Nanocomposites based on polymers and Biopolymers. He has published more than 100 articles in indexed journals and has directed 7 doctoral theses.
