M. Rosario Ribeiro

M. Rosário Ribeiro is a Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST).

She graduated in Chemical Engineering at IST in 1983, obtained the Master's degree in Chemistry of the Catalytic Processes at IST in 1987 and the PhD in Polymer Chemistry at the University of Bordeaux in 1993.

She develops research activities within the Centro de Química Estrutural – CQE and she was the Coordinator of the CQE-Group 3, on Heterogeneous Catalysis and Catalytic Processes in 2019. She integrates a horizontal platform including Nanoscience, Nanotechnology and Materials Engineering areas.
Her main research interests are dedicated to the disciplinary area of Polymer Science and include: (i) Coordination and Ring Opening Polymerization; (ii) Biodegradable Polyesters; (iii Nanostructured materials based on polyolefins and polyesters and (iv) Plastic waste conversion.

She has 72 publications referenced in the Web of Science Research ID profile, mainly in the areas of “Polymers and Plastics”, “Materials Chemistry”, “Materials Science”, “Catalysis” and Chemical Engineering”. She is also the author or co-author of 8 book chapters, and more than 100 communications to International and National Conferences including around 25 articles and 80 abstracts in proceedings. She has a total of 1500 citations, and an h index of 21 (source Google Scholar)

M. Rosário Ribeiro participated in 35 R&D projects including international ones funded by the European Union, bilateral international cooperation programs, and national projects supported by national agencies. She was the coordinator of 16 Research Projects and the PI for the Portuguese team in two International Projects.
