Kotaro Satoh

Kotaro Satoh received his Ph.D. degrees in polymer chemistry from Kyoto University under supervision of Professor Mitsuo Sawamoto in 2000. During 2000–2004, he worked for Kuraray Co Ltd. as a researcher. In 2004, he moved to Nagoya University as an Assistant Professor working with Professor Masami Kamigaito and was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2007. In 2009–2010, he was a visiting scientist at University of California, Santa Barbara, working with Professor Craig J. Hawker. In 2019, he moved to Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology as a full professor. He received the Awards for the Encouragement of Research in Polymer Science SPSJ (2008), The Young Scientists' Prize by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (2012), SPSJ Asahi Kasei Award (2012), and SPSJ Wiley Award (2015). His research interest includes exploring new precision polymerization systems, as well as developments of bio-based polymers by means of precision polymerizations of renewable vinyl monomers.
